Not too far away by Prabha

Is the moment we start missing things that we never thought we would ever miss…

When we forget the last time we heard “Venkayama??Shasti aakkum”…

When we sharpen our earlobe in vain as if to hear an extinct “Vanthuko…Nevidhyam aayachu…”

When we are no longer frustrated to wear that sacred ash on our forehead even without that ubiquitous reprimand “mani 6 aayachu…Sandhi pannandaama?”

A time when we yearn for an “Enthiru…margazhi maasam…Usha Pooja kku po” epithet…

When the morning-hour-rush-and-fuss doesn’t involve the fear of stamping on the kolam as those symmetrical patterns adorn our courtyards as mere stickers…

And when we no longer think twice before churning out plans for the next day at night…As no voice calls out “Nalatha paadu Narayanan kandaan!”

Before all this comes true…

Before we gel into an inexplicable world filled with plethora of hues that we lose sight of our own roots…

Let us freeze our days in our hearts…

Let us live each moment without unibrows…

So that these precious moments never turn into unreachable treasures for us…

Because… Much above the string of rich cultural thread, there is a richer, thicker bond incomprehensible yet hard to live without…

So why wait?

Let’s go and enjoy our earful for the day…
